Flossing with Purifloss

Due to the almost 400 interwoven fibers Purifloss is comprised of, it may be thicker than what you are used to. Not to worry though! We designed Purifloss to work in any space. Simply pull Purifloss taut to compress the fibers and using a back-and-forth motion, gently but firmly slide it between your teeth.

Dispense Your Floss

Start by breaking off about 18 inches (45 cm) of floss. This length allows you to use a fresh section of floss for each tooth. - Wrap most of the floss around the middle finger of one hand (whichever hand you prefer) and the remaining floss around the middle finger of your other hand. Leave about 1-2 inches (3-5 cm) of floss to work with between your hands.

Hold Your Floss Correctly

Hold the floss tightly between your thumbs and index fingers, making sure there is enough tension so it can slide easily between your teeth. - Use your thumbs to guide the floss between your upper teeth and your index fingers to guide it between your lower teeth.

⁠Insert Your Floss

Gently guide the floss between your teeth using a back-and-forth motion. Avoid snapping the floss into your gums as this can cause irritation or damage.

⁠Curve the Floss

When the floss reaches your gum line, curve it into a C shape against one tooth. This helps ensure that the floss gets under the gum line where plaque often hides.

Slide the Floss

Hold the floss tightly against the tooth and gently slide it up and down and back and forth the side of the tooth, going beneath the gum line as well. Repeat this motion several times to remove any debris and plaque and do the same on the side of the other tooth in this area.

Move to a New Section

After flossing one tooth, roll the floss to a fresh section using the fingers you wrapped it around. This ensures you are using a clean piece of floss for each tooth, preventing the spread of plaque and bacteria.

⁠Repeat for Each Tooth

Repeat the process for each tooth, including the back side of your last molars. Be thorough and take your time to ensure every tooth is cleaned properly.

Rinse Your Mouth/Brush Your Teeth

After flossing all your teeth, rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash and/or brush your teeth to remove any dislodged particles and to freshen your breath.
